ADA — Ohio Northern senior Alan Bowsher (Cygnet/Elmwood) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Bowsher won the Division III race and finished seventh out of 168 runners overall to lead the ONU men at the Mel Brodt Invitational at Bowling Green State on Saturday.
The Polar Bears won the 5-team Division III meet and finished second out of 12 teams overall, defeating NCAA Division I schools Toledo, Marshall and Bowling Green.
Bowsher finished in a career-best 24:58, making him the third-fastest senior and fifth-fastest runner overall in Ohio Northern Men's Cross Country history.
This is the second time that Bowsher has won the award, as he was named the OAC Runner of the Week on Sept. 22, 2008.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Calvin (Mich.) Select Meet.
