Types of Financial Aid
At Ohio Northern we use a variety of financial aid programs to assist you in making a college education affordable.
Scholarships: Typically merit based, scholarships are gift aid that you do not have to pay back. Scholarships are generally based on grade point average, test scores or talent.
Grants: Grants are gift aid that you do not have to repay. Federal, state and Institutional grants are generally based on financial need as defined by the FAFSA.
Loans: Low-interest student loan programs are offered by the Federal government and by private lenders to assist you in paying for school. Loans require repayment which is often deferred until after graduation.
Federal Work Study: Work is available to those who qualify. In addition, we encourage students to work during the summer to offset the cost of books and personal expenses.
