Dimension Award Application
Ohio Northern University is committed to recruiting students from all segments of society and supporting their retention to graduation. The purpose of the Dimension Award is to offer financial assistance to incoming freshmen and transfers who are from racial, ethnic and/or cultural backgrounds currently underrepresented at ONU.
Award
Award amounts range up to $10,000 per academic year in gift aid. Students who apply for the Dimension Award should file the FAFSA to ensure maximum assistance. The award will be coordinated with other financial aid programs and awards.
The Alumni Award, Talent Award and Dean’s Award can be combined but will be part of the overall package of funds. Students will receive the higher amount of coordinated funds after the Recognition Day events, if eligible.
Need-based funds, outside scholarships and loans/work-study can be added as packaged.
Award recipients must annually meet the following criteria to maintain the full award amount of the Dimension Award:
- Remain in good academic standing as prescribed by their academic program or college.
- Meet once a quarter with Ms. Crys Latham, coordinator of multicultural recruitment, or Mr. Clyde W. Pickett, director of multicultural development.
- Involve themselves in at least one student organization, which would include but is not limited to a cultural organization such as Black Student Union, Indian Student Association, Asian American Student Union, Latino Student Union, Muslim Student Association, Open Doors, World Student Organization, etc. This would include active participation in the organization’s meetings and events.
- Submit during spring quarter of each year their “Statement of Achievement.” The award recipient will reflect on what he or she accomplished during the academic year and how he or she has engaged in the community and contributed to diversity, and will outline the goals he or she wishes to work toward accomplishing the following academic year.
