Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When should I expect for these rounds to occur? When do I choose a roommate?
A: A calendar is attached to the page below.
Q: Are there Squatter's Rights this year?
A: No. There were very few students who utilized the option last year, we received student feedback that suggested that we should consider not using it this year, and it simplifies the housing process.
Q: What are my chances of getting an apartment?
A: Lottery numbers are generated by our computer program. The higher your credit hour, the higher likelihood you will have of getting an apartment. As of 04/24/08 at 1:12 p.m. there are 1627 students eligible for Round I of the lottery process.
Q: I logged on during my lottery time. I selected a place to live in Lima because that was all that was left. I REALLY want to live in an apartment. What do I do?
A: You may be placed on our waiting list for apartments. We will contact you if you are the person on the waiting list with the highest number of credit hours in the event an apartment space opens up. Please call x2430 during business hours to request to be added to this list or click CONTACT US and complete the form.
Q: I want to prepare for when I login to select my housing. Are their floor plans available?
A: Yes! Many of our apartments, suites, and residence hall floor plans are available by clicking Housing Profiles on our web site. If the floor plan is not available online, you may view the floor plans anytime our office is open in McIntosh Center.
Q: I am studying abroad or doing a co-op in winter quarter or spring quarter. What housing should I select?
A: You can select any housing. However, please know that if you select an apartment you will be required to find another student who was on co-op or studying abroad during Fall Quarter to take your place. Be sure to remain in communication with the Office of Residence Life regarding your intentions.
Q: What do I do if I have questions about the Housing Lottery process?
A: Visit http://www-new.onu.edu/student_life/residence_life/contact_us and complete the online form. We will get back with you as soon as possible!
