Bequests

Bequests, large and small, are very important to Ohio Northern University. They account for a major portion of the university's endowment and provide significant funding for the University's programs, facilities, and student aid. Bequests are made through a written and executed will.

As a donor you designate a specific, general, percentage, or residuary bequest in your will or revocable living trust. You can also name ONU to receive part or all of life insurance proceeds or remaining principal in retirement, brokerage, or financial accounts.

Your will is your legacy. It directs how your property will be used and to whom it is distributed after your lifetime.

A gift by bequest to Ohio Northern University has several advantages:

  • Charitable gifts made through your will are deductible for estate tax purposes.
  • You may direct your bequest in whole or in part to specific university programs.
  • You may wish to establish a scholarship.
  • When you notify and provide documentation to Ohio Northern University of your gift of $10,000 or more, you will be invited to join the Heritage Club.

Your will should be drafted by your attorney.
