Pharmacy-Law Dual Degree Program

How the Program Works

Qualified students will be accepted initially into the College of Pharmacy during their senior year of high school and will begin studies in the College of Pharmacy in the Fall following high school graduation. Both pharmacy and law faculty will evaluate the high school student for probability of success in both career fields of study. Students accepted into the program will accelerate through the first four years of the pharmacy curriculum, completing most of the core requirements in the first three calendar years.

During Year 4 of the program, the student will complete the Pharmacy P-5 Modules and will also apply for admission to the College of Law. The LSAT exam and LSDAS registration are requirements for admission consideration. Initial admission to the program is not a guarantee of admission to the College of Law, but barring poor student performance on the LSAT, we anticipate the student will progress toward completion of both degrees. During the summer of Year 4, the student will begin their advanced practice rotation requirement for the Pharm.D.

Law classes will commence in Year 5 and continue in Years 6 and 7. Pharmacy advanced practice rotations will be completed during these three calendar summers so that all requirements will be finished to allow for commencement and awarding of both Doctoral degrees in May of Year 7.

This is a rigorous program designed for outstanding, goal oriented students who want to take advantage of this very special opportunity. If a student has earned college credit in the form of Advanced Placement credit or Post Secondary credit, the rigor of the program will be reduced accordingly.

Students currently in the first year of study in the College of Pharmacy may be considered for admission into this Dual Degree Program.
