In her 21st year at Ohio Northern University, Dr. Denise D’Arca is Professor of Music, Coordinator of Music Education, Academic Programs Coordinator for the Music Department, and she directs the ONU Women’s Chorus and coaches the ONU A Cappella Ensembles. She holds the Bachelor of Music in instrumental music education (French horn, with additional studies in English and speech/drama) from Culver-Stockton College, the Master of Arts in vocal music education (voice) from Truman State University, and the Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction (music teacher education, vocal music, and additional studies in special education) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. D’Arca has taught vocal, instrumental, and general music for grades K-12 for a number of years, and has taught early childhood music and music for special learners of all ages. In her spare time she’s involved in Sweet Adelines: directing the Sisters in Song chorus and singing tenor with the Fourtuosity quartet. She has been active in all aspects of community theatre. She is a member of the OMEA, MENC, OSGM, OSMTE, Sweet Adelines International, Sigma Alpha Iota, is a vocal/choral adjudicator for OMEA, and is a Praxis III assessor. “Dr. D.” and her husband of 31 years live in Ada and have two sons.
