Wind Orchestra
Wind Orchestra
The Wind Orchestra is ONU’s top band and performs the finest professional level wind band repertoire. Membership is by audition only, and open to all students regardless of major. In September of 2008 the ONU Wind ensemble came under the direction of Dr. Thomas A. Hunt and was renamed the ONU Wind Orchestra.
Dr. Hunt brings very high aspirations to the ensemble and it was a fantastic first year. Favorites from the 2008-2009 programs included Donald Hundsberger’s arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, Donald Freund’s Nativitas, Timothy Broege’s Sinfonia #5, and Kenneth Fuch’s Christina’s World.
Additional songs include Frank Ticheli’s Blue Shades, Julie Giroux’s Cullodden III and James Barnes Danza Sinfonica, as well as standards from the wind band repertoire, Gustav Holst’s First Suite in Eb, Norman Dello Joio’s Scenes From the Louvre and Alfred Reed’s Alleluia Laudamus Te.
