REMEMBERING ANGELA BADERTSCHER

Phi Epsilon Kappa is deeply saddened to share that on August 17, 2008 Angela Badertscher (BS '05)  lost her battle with Cystic Fibrosis.  Angela was an Ada High School graduate who went on to  receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Wellness at Ohio Northern University.  While at ONU, she was a member of HPSS Club and Delta Zeta.  Angela worked on campus for Admissions, Heterick Library, the  McIntosh Help Desk, and the Kinghorn Desk.  In her spare time, she loved to support the ONU football and basketball teams, as well as playing tennis while she was still able.  Angela loved the Cincinnati Bengals, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and NASCAR.  She was an avid competitor in Fantasy NASCAR and loved country music.  Angela leaves behind two sisters, Kimberly and Michelle Badertscher, and their parents and grandparents.  Kim and Michelle are both ONU Athletic Training Alumni.

In honor of both Angela's and Kim's battle against Cystic Fibrosis, the ONU Athletic Training department is hosting the first annual "Run for the Roses" on Saturday May 3, 2009 at 3:30 pm.  The run has been entitled "Run for The Roses" because many children diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis call the condition "Sixty-Five Roses."  Honoring this story, the first 65 finishers of the race will receive a pink Killarney rose, honoring the official sorority rose of both Kim and Angela's sororities.  The run will begin at Dial-Roberson Stadium  following an invocation ceremony, and follow a 3.1 mile course through campus.  In addition, a Kids Fun Run will be held on the track for children 10 and under.  All participants in the 5K will receive a t-shirt commemorating this special event as part of the $15 registration fee.  A sports memorabilia raffle will be held inside the stadium before and after the race featuring items from professional athletes and sports teams.  Registration forms for the race can be found at onusports.com, and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis foundation that the Badertscher family designates.  Questions about the event can be e-mailed to runfortheroses65@gmail.com, or by contacting Kurt Wilson at 419-772-2559.
