Senior Chosen to Attend Prestigious Violent Crime Behavior Seminar

Carissa Stinson, a criminal justice and psychology double major from Perry, Ohio, has been chosen to take part in the prestigious Violent Crime Behavior training seminar in Manassas, Va., from June 8-19.

The seminar is presented by the Academy Group Inc., a forensic behavioral science company that helps local and federal agencies with consulting, training, research and investigation. Former FBI profiler Roy Hazelwood, whose work in behavior profiling helped to establish the FBI Behavioral Science Unit (BSU) at Quantico, Va., will conduct the seminar.

Psychology Students, Professor Paper to be Published

Four Ohio Northern University students and professor Keith Durkin presented the paper, "When Good Times Go Bad: The Differential Impact of Risk and Protective Factors on the Alcohol-Related Problems of a Sample of University Students," at the Mid-South Sociological Association in Huntsville, Ala.

A revised version of the paper is scheduled for publication in a forthcoming special issue of the "Journal of Offender Rehabilitation," which deals with alcohol and criminal behavior.

ONU to host District Science Day

Ohio Northern University will host the Ohio Academy of Sciences West Central District Science Day on Saturday, March 21, 2009.

More than 200 projects by students in grades 6-12 from Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Seneca and Van Wert counties will be displayed in the ground floor classrooms of ONU's Meyer Hall of Science.

Public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place in the McIntosh Center Ballroom at 3:30 p.m.
