ONU Model UN Team Travels to New York City

The ONU Model United Nations Team represented the country of Zimbabwe at the National Model United Nations Conference in New York City from April 7 until April 12.

ONU Students Studying in Cuba

Eight Ohio Northern University students are participating in an environmental management program at the University of Havana in Cuba.

Dr. Terry Maris , professor of management at ONU, accompanied the students and acts as the resident director of the program, which began March 7 and continues until May 17.

Broadcasting Senior Selected as IRTS Fellow

Ohio Northern University senior Ben Roselieb, a broadcasting and electronic media major from Wauseon, Ohio, has been selected to participate in the International Radio and Television Society Summer Fellowship Program in New York City. Roselieb is the seventh ONU student selected to participate in this Fellowship over the past 15 years. More than 1,000 applicants nationwide applied for the fellowship. In the past, IRTS has accepted 30 fellows, but this year, the number of accepted fellows was limited to 15.

ACS Students Travel to Salt Lake City

Senior chemistry majors Joshua Judkins of Selma, NC, Sonya Adas of Waterville, OH, Jeff Wilson of Carnegie, PA, Lisa Meyers of Leipsic, OH and Sam Manzer of Ada, OH recently traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, for the American Chemical Society (ACS) National Conference.

Fulbright Scholar Brings Mexican Culture

In Ada, Ohio, it is not often that one might get the opportunity to work with a traditional Mexican dance instructor. Thanks to the Fulbright Scholar Program, however, six students are getting to do just that.

ONU Student Wins Ping Award for Community Service

Ohio Northern University junior Katherine Feldhues, a youth ministry and sociology major from Milford, Ohio, has been honored with the 2009 Charles J. Ping Student Community Service Award from Ohio Campus Compact.

Feldhues received a $250 legacy grant as part of the award. Dr. Kendall L. Baker, Ohio Northern University president, nominated Feldhues in recognition of her work as coordinator of the Ada Friends program.

Geography Honor Society Established at ONU

Ohio Northern University was awarded the Lambda Psi chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU) Honor Society for International Geography this year and will have its first induction ceremony this Honors Day on May 9, 2009.

Charter members will be: Stephen Borden, a sophomore in history from Columbus, Ohio; Mathew Boutin, a senior in biology from Lima, Ohio; and Kevin Sigg, a senior in civil engineering from Maumee, Ohio.

Donald J. Abraham, Ph.D., will give the 2009 Kritzler Lecture on Wednesday April 15th at 7 PM in Meyer 107. The talk is entitled "How to Win a Nobel Prize." This lecture will open the door to understanding the nature, personality, work, personal lives, and the influence of the discoveries for the good of our world of several Nobel Prize winning scientists that the speaker has known and worked closely with throughout his own distinguished career.

ONU Senior Selected as Goldwater Scholar

James GallagherOhio Northern University senior James Gallagher, a physics major from Medina, Ohio, has been selected as a 2009 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Excellence in Education Program. This marks the fifth consecutive year that ONU students have received this honor, the premier undergraduate award of its type in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.
