Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Slated for the Mathile Center for the Natural Sciences

Ribbon-cutting at the Mathile CenterOhio Northern University will hold a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the new Mathile Center for the Natural Sciences at 4 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 16.

The student-centered academic research and learning facility blends hands-on teaching excellence with advanced technology in a functional modern environment.

Amy Murray Receives 2009 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award

Amy (Widner) Murray, who graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1995 with a degree in environmental studies, has been named the recipient of the 2009 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award.

ONU Presents a Night of Beach Music with Papa Doo Run Run and the ONU Symphony

As part of Homecoming 2009, Ohio Northern University presents "An Evening of Beach Music and Classic Rock featuring Papa Doo Run Run and the Ohio Northern University Symphony" at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m.

ONU Announces October Open Houses

Ohio Northern University welcomes high school seniors to campus for a series of three October open houses beginning on Oct. 3. Prospective students will learn about specific Ohio Northern programs, meet with current students, faculty and staff, and attend informational admissions and financial aid sessions. A complimentary lunch and campus tour will also be provided.

On Oct. 3, The T.J. Smull College of Engineering will hold open houses along with the ONU Performing and Visual Arts Open House. Registration for all events begins at 9 a.m.

Public Relations Program to Enter Re-certifcation Process

ONU's public relations program is one of fewer than 20 in the nation to hold the Certified for Education in Public Relations (CEPR) designation. This recognition is granted on a six-year cycle by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the largest, most well-respected professional organization in the industry. In 2003, ONU became the first university in Ohio to receive the CEPR designation, and our re-certification site-visit team is scheduled to be on campus Oct. 7-9, 2009.

Trahan to Present Workshop

ONU's chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will host a visit to campus on Oct. 14 by Dr. (LTC-U.S. Army-Retired) Joseph V. Trahan III, APR, Fellow PRSA. Trahan is president of Trahan & Associates (a leading crisis/media training firm), a former college professor and civilian department of defense contractor. Trahan will present a daylong workshop for our students and area communication professionals. During his time with the U.S. Army, he coordinated worldwide media coverage for the 50th-anniversary celebration of D-Day.

Award-winning Choreographer Brings 'Games' to ONU

"Games," a production by award-wining choreographer Donald McKayle, comes to Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m.

Under the supervision of McKayle, seven ONU students will peform "Games," a production that observes city children at play and the serious business of being a child.

Yale Professor in the Practice of Green Chemistry to Speak

Dr. Paul T. Anastas will be the featured guest speaker during the 2009 Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in Life Sciences in Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5.

Anastas' topic will be "Green Chemistry, From Here to Sustainability."

Ohio Northern Opens Gallery Season

The 2009-10 gallery season at Ohio Northern University will open Sept. 8 with the works of abstract expressionist Tom Connelly.

ONU Teams with Kroger to Offer Flu Shots, Health Screenings

Seasonal flu shots and health screenings will be offered as part of the Ada Harvest and Herb Festival, provided by Kroger Pharmacy and Ohio Northern University's Rudolph H. Raabe College of Pharmacy, nursing program and The James F. Dicke College of Business Administration.

These health services will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, in the atrium of James F. Dicke Hall on South Main Street in Ada.
