Thirteenth Annual ONU Holiday Spectacular Scheduled

The Ohio Northern University Departments of Theatre and Music will present the 13th annual ONU Holiday Spectacular at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, Nov. 30, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, December 2, at 2 p.m. The show also will be presented at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima on Friday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 8, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, December 9, at 2 p.m.

ONU Marching Band to Perform in China

The Ohio Northern University Marching Band will travel to China to perform a series of shows from Nov. 15 through 23.

More than 100 members of the ONU Marching Band will make stops in Shanghai, where they will play at a late-morning parade/stand-still concert on the bustling Nanjing Road. The band also will play at the legendary Great Wall of China.

In recent years, the ONU Marching Band has performed in Rome, Hawaii, Paris, London and Canada.

Band-O-Rama to Feature ONU Symphonic and Marching Bands

The Ohio Northern University Symphonic and Marching Bands will present the annual Band-O-Rama concert on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

The Temptations Review to perform with ONU Symphony

The Freed Center for the Performing Arts welcomes the Temptations Review with Dennis Edwards on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 8 p.m.

Involved with the legendary Motown group for nearly 40 years, Edwards will join the Ohio Northern University Symphony to deliver nostalgic favorites and recent hits.

Known for his smooth style and unique delivery, Edwards is hailed as one of the most influential singers in pop music history. Harkening back to the days of the "Classic Five" lineup, this performance aims to please fans both young and old.

ONU Artist Series presents international pianist

The Ohio Northern University Artist Series will present an evening of piano music with I-Chen Yeh on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Snyder Recital Hall.

Yeh's performance will feature selections by noted composers such as Debussy, Messiaen and Bartok.

Ohio Northern University Singers announce fall tour

The University Singers from Ohio Northern University will present their annual fall tour beginning Thursday, Oct. 25, and continuing until the group's home concert Sunday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in Presser Hall.

The 48-voice choir is under the direction of Dennis L. Kratzer, director of choral activities and professor of music. The 2007 fall tour will include church and high school concerts in Lima, Hamilton and Cincinnati, Ohio.

ONU Artist Series to feature noted tenor

As part of the continuing Artist Series, Ohio Northern University's department of music will present J.R. Fralick, tenor, on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. in Snyder Recital Hall. Prior to the recital, Fralick will host a master class at 4 p.m., also in Snyder Recital Hall.

Fralick is an associate professor of voice, as well as artistic director of the opera program, at Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio.

Gypsy swing band to perform at ONU

Buffalo-based "gypsy swing" group Babik will bring its unique version of European jazz to Ohio Northern University on Tuesday, Oct. 2. The group will present an hour-long master class/clinic at 1 p.m. and then a performance at 8 p.m. Both events will take place in Snyder Recital Hall.

ONU Department of Music to Present Faculty Spring Jazz Concert

The Ohio Northern University department of music will present "The Faculty" in the spring jazz concert "We Got the Blues: A Celebration of Blues and Jazz Classics" in the recital hall of the Presser music building on Monday, April 23 at 8 p.m..

"The Faculty," a musical group features ONU faculty members Ed Zickafoose and Charles Bates, along with Jack Taylor, saxophonist; Larry Carney, bass; George Miller, trumpeter; and Tesa Jordon, vocalist; and John Zickafoose, vocalist.

'The Magic Flute' Comes to Ohio Northern

A lavish production of Mozart's "The Magic Flute" will take the stage of the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on the Campus of Ohio Northern University at 8 p.m., April 25, 27 and 28.

In rehearsals since November, the production brings together Ohio Northern students and professionals performers and production members in this year's largest production by the ONU Music and Theatre departments.
