Scholarships and Awards
In addition to the programs administered by the financial aid office, the music department offers several special scholarships. These scholarships are reserved for music majors who have completed a minimum of one year as a music major at Ohio Northern. Selection is based on the recommendation of the faculty and department chair.
The Dorothy and Lowell Snyder Scholarships
The Snyder Endowment is the largest scholarship endowment on campus. Their generosity enables us to provide awards of up to $10,000 annually for up to four years based on music talent.
The Beall-Snyder Award
Awarded to the outstanding music major.
The Dorothy Ames Snyder Piano Scholar of the Year Award
This award is given to the outstanding pianist.
The Osman Award for Music
This award recognizes a music major who shows outstanding promise of contribution to the field of music.
The Valerie Wilson Piano Award
Awarded to an outstanding pianist.
The Mildred Loman Henning Award
Awarded in recognition of a student for excellence, preferably in vocal music.
The Lima Symphony Orchestra Award
Awarded to outstanding music majors who play one of the orchestral instruments.
