Music Education (PreK-12)

.Teacher candidates in Music Education complete an approved program of coursework, field experiences, and other requirements leading to the application for an initial Provisional Ohio Teaching License for grades PreK-12 Music. Candidates major in Music Education in the Department of Music (http://www.new.onu.edu/academics/getty_college_arts_sciences/areas_study...). Other coursework includes general education classes such as English, philosophy, art, science, mathematics, and others, as well as professional education coursework in culture and schooling, developmental psychology, exceptional learners, technology, curriculum, classroom strategies, methods of teaching, and more. In addition, candidates spend time throughout the program in local classrooms completing professional experience requirements.
