Michael is a registered Professional Engineer in over twenty states including Ohio and one of the first LEED Accredited Professionals. Michael received the Ohio Northern University 2007-2008 William L. Robinson Distinguished Young Alumni Award during the 2007 Homecoming celebration. He was also the Grand Marshal for the Homecoming parade. Michael recently joined the ONU College of Engineering Advisory Board.Michael was chosen in 2009 as one of Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine’s 40 Under 40 engineers. This award recognizes the most talented young individuals in the North America engineering community supporting the building industry.
Michael is actively involved in the green community. He is a member of the United States Green Building Council, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Green Business Council, the TechColumbus Green Team and the Columbus Green Building Forum. Michael’s home received the Columbus GreenSpot certification (2008) for being a green home. His firm’s office also received a GreenSpot certification (2008).
Michael is the Education and Membership Chairman of the Central Ohio IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) Section. He is also an active member of the Franklin County Chapter of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) and the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers). Michael is married to Heidi Woebkenberg, a 1996 Pharmacy graduate of ONU. They have two daughters, Lillian (3 years old) and Eleanor (newborn). Michael’s hobbies include tennis, computers and living a green lifestyle. He is also active as a member of the Alumni Board and past Alumni Board President for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity chapter at ONU.
