Ohio Northern University's buildings are equipped with fire alarms and fire extinguishers. Fire drills are held to acquaint students, faculty and staff with building alarms, exits, assembly areas and safety procedures.

If you discover a fire or evidence of a fire such as smoke or the smell of smoke:

  1. Call 911, give the location and description of the fire.
  2. Call ONU Security at ext. 2222.
  3. Activate building fire alarm.
  4. Alerts others in the building, if this can be done safely.
  5. Leave the building by the nearest exit. Do NOT use elevators.
  6. Stay out of the building until Campus Security tells you it is safe to return.
